Meet Quetzal Mama's Founder



Dr. Roxanne Ocampo - aka "Quetzal Mama" is the marketing brand and pen name of Roxanne Ocampo. She is an award winning author, public speaker, blogger, and national college admissions expert. She began coaching students after helping her own children earn admission to every Ivy League campus and other highly selective campuses like Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Berkeley.

Practitioner - She has six years of experience coaching thousands of students throughout the US. With more than 100 workshops and webinars spanning the entire spectrum of the college admissions process, she provides strategies to get students on their pathway to college. Her program “Quetzal Mama Scholars” serves students in eight North San Diego County high school districts.

Researcher - She received a Doctorate degree from University of California at San Diego. Her Dissertation topic and Case Study focused on Mexican-American, high-performing, low-income, first generation high school students, who received admission to the most selective universities in the U.S. She holds a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in English – where she learned her unique craft of writing.
